One Defeats a Thousand, Two Defeat Ten Thousand
A little kid was observing something on the floor as his mom saw him and came over. “What are you doing, son?” she asked. The child answered, “Look Ma, this ant is so silly. It’s trying to carry my cookie crumbs which are way bigger than itself. It’s impossible right, Ma?” The Mom smiled and said, “Come, let’s leave this ant for a while and come back a bit later. Let’s see if the ant is able to carry the crumbs.”
Sometime later the child came back and found that the crumbs were gone. His eyes started to look around for the ants and there, not far from where it was, the child saw not one, but an army of ants carrying the crumbs that fell on the floor. What seemed to be difficult became easy because they carried it together.
Too often we heard “Ah, how could our kids ministry grow? We have no one here!” or “Well.. I’ll do the bare minimum because I’m doing this alone. We also don’t have many kids here.. so anything will be fine”. Similar sentences might be heard as well.
If ants need to work together to carry food for their well being, don’t we need to also work together to build a generation?
Do you realize that the world, with its technological advancement, social media power and its amazing promotion, is trying their best to pull your kids from the truth? The world is trying to internalize ‘grey’ values and perceptions in each aspect of life to bring this generation down.
- Pastors and church leaders, have you given full support for the next gen ministry in your church? Do you still see this ministry as a minority in your agenda? The future of the church you are ministering is in the hands of these children, so let’s make sure to prepare them well by giving the best attention to them starting today.
- Ministers in the kids department, have you given your best for this ministry? Maybe you have a lot of limitations, but do you remember how Jesus transformed 5 breads and 2 fish to feed 5000 people? Likewise, God is able to multiply whatever you are giving Him for the children you are ministering to. So keep your spirit up, do your best and learn better to serve them day by day.
- Parents, this pandemic has taught us that the biggest responsibility to serve our children is in our hands. Have we responded well to this calling? Although kids church activities have resumed, make sure that as parents, you are the first and foremost in teaching the truth to your kids. Then you can work together with the kids’ ministers at your church who can help you to teach your kids in truth.
When we work as a team and do our role well, I believe our children will stay on the right course and that path that God has prepared for them. Just as ants that could carry their food successfully, we will be successful when we do it together. Remember that one can defeat a thousand, but two can defeat ten thousand.
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
