Revival Time

Covid has impacted the society as a catastrophic pandemic, creating high levels of fear, job loss in government and private areas, closure of business. People from low economy group have been greatly affected by the pandemic but this can be seen as an opportunity to evangelize and bring a message of hope. This is revival time.

Last week IFGF Quito distributed food for the poorest families who lost their jobs due to Covid. Since the beginning of the quarantine, this was our 4th time to do food distribution with financial assistance from Ps. Somi in IFGF Houston, USA. While doing so, have also shared the gospel with 18 families.

As for the regular service, IFGF Quito has started using Facebook Streaming from the start of the quarantine. Facebook Streaming has been a great platform that enables the church to stay connected with people, providing spiritual food and most importantly, the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Members in IFGF Quito have been blessed by our Facebook Streaming. One testimony came from one member whose parents were ready to divorce. However they watched our online service about family and forgiveness. God worked through this message and touched their hearts. The couple experienced reconciliation and did not get a divorce.

Another testimony came from one church member whose father was in ICU and impacted the family’s financial condition. Ps. Walter then prayed through an audio message. After a while, the father was healed miraculously that the doctors were amazed. To God be the glory.

In the beginning Covid has impacted Ecuador, especially Guayaquil City terribly. As the health system collapses, dead people are left on the streets. However now the situation is getting under control although ICUs are still full of Covid patients. We have spent 78 days in quarantine but now we are already in “yellow zone” with many restrictions in order.

As for now, churches cannot have gatherings until the end of August. The plan for our service in the new normal is to have only 30% of the total capacity attending with no children, no adults age 60 and above, and no sick people allowed. Nonetheless, let us remember that church is not limited to a building. We are the church.
