IFGF JAKARTA DISCIPLESHIP RETREAT

In May 2024, IFGF Jakarta organized a Discipleship Retreat at Neo Savana Hotel, Sentul. The retreat event which took place on May 22-23, 2024 was attended by around 100 leaders from various regions such as Center Jakarta, Karawaci, Bogor, Bekasi and Depok (Pastorals, Head Coach and Coach).

With the theme “Discipled Leaders”, Ps. Jimmy Oentoro, the Senior Pastor of IFGF Jakarta, gave an insight into the importance of having a heart that is willing to be discipled before discipling others.

In this session, Ps. Jimmy shared ten important things that a disciple should do:

  1. Seek: investing time to have fellowship with God
  2. Love: love God and others
  3. Believe: believe God’s word and live in faith
  4. Confess: being honest in admitting mistakes
  5. Talk: pray without ceasing in quietness
  6. Flee: resist the coming temptations
  7. Stand: stand firm in faith
  8. Choose: choose to rejoice and share it with others
  9. Yield: surrender life to God and be willing to learn
  10. Disciple: continue to make disciples and change the world, so that growth will happen everywhere

Ps. Jimmy emphasized that growth in belief will give courage to do things outside the comfort zone.

On the second day, Ps. Sam Hartanto, President of IFGF Global & Senior Pastor of IFGF Bandung, also equipped the leaders with “7 Leadership Checkpoints Worth Assessing”:

  1. Authority and Power:  bringing change to those we meet while maintaining our boundaries
  2. Accountability: a leader who are responsible for their spiritual life
  3. Responsibility: a leader who is responsible for the people he leads and lives and grows with
  4. Humility: not judging but empowering
  5. Integrity: bold to speak the truth
  6. Transferability: can share life with others so as to be more productive
  7. Resolvability: a leader needs strength, decisiveness, and consistency in solving every problem that exists

With these 7 things, a leader can continue to grow together with the people in his environment.

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5: 13-16 NIV
