First Children Party at Ecuador
Starting in 2023, IFGF Ecuador held its first children’s party on Saturday, 21 January 2023. This children’s party was held in the city of Portoviejo (the IFGF Ecuador church has a branch church and a pastor who lives there).
Carmita, Andrea, her husband, Bryan, and Pastor Walter Hidalgo drove from Quito to the city of Portoviejo for 7 hours. For information, Portoviejo, also known as San Gregorio de Portoviejo, is a city in Ecuador and is the capital of the Province of Manabí which is located 30 km from the Pacific coast. Portoviejo itself is also known as the city of “Royal Tamarind Trees.”
On the other hand, this area is also not conducive because of the collaboration between drug dealers and fishermen, where they use small boats to transport drugs out to sea to connect with large cartel ships. It is a big challenge for the country because many people are involved in consuming or selling drugs. The police found more than 230 tons of drugs there.
Another challenge is the high rate of teenage pregnancy. So IFGF Ecuador decided to preach the gospel to the community there. The event was held on Saturday and was attended by around 60 children and 30 parents.
The first children’s party was fascinating because there were games, then candy distribution for all the children, and they loved it. After that, parents receive a bag of non-perishable food.
This is an outreach event, everyone accepts Jesus, and our resident pastor will follow up with all these new families with a Discipleship program. The next children’s party will be held in the city of Quito.Ps Herman, and IFGF Austin is one of the partners for this event.
