Parenting Workshop – The Trojan Horse of our Children’s Generation-
On Saturday, February 12, 2022, IFGF North America (Region 1) held an online parenting workshop titled “The Trojan Horse of our Children’s Generation”. This parenting workshop was hosted by Joy Sukadi & Dr. Lilyana Margaretha from IFGF Seattle. Joy Sukadi is the current coordinator for IFGF Women Global.
115 families from North America, Asia and Europe attended this workshop. Distance was not definitely not an issue as it was held online.
These days, we acknowledge that kids are growing in a high-boredom culture. This workshop aims to teach parents to identify the main “Trojan Horse” within our children’s generation. The “trojan horse” that aims to kill, steal and destroy God’s purpose in our children’s lives. In the computing world, trojan horse is known as a malware that can deceive and manipulate a computer’s security system. Unlike other viruses, a trojan will not infect and duplicate itself to the system but instead it will spread itself through social engineering. For example, an attacker will add the trojan in an online file and then wait for the unlucky person who will download the dangerous file. Similar to our children who are currently facing various offers from the world that might harm them.
Therefore, as parents and adults who are more mature, we need to act. In the workshop, the speakers also discussed several apps, films, books, and school curricula that we need to be aware of. They also shared practical steps to find information to equip ourselves in this cultural battle that can destroy our children. Our children are worth fighting for. The victory is ours but the time to act is now.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
