Island Mission 2023 – IFGF Semarang

In July, IFGF Semarang conducted an island mission from July 10 to 17, 2023, to the Riau Islands. The island mission journey began on Monday, July 10, 2023, with volunteers gathering at Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang at 10:30 a.m. to depart for Batam, Riau Islands. There were 15 volunteers who participated in this island mission, and they decided to leave a day earlier to explore, get to know, and enjoy the atmosphere of Batam City, which is the hometown of one of IFGF Semarang’s pastors, Ps. Indra Puspa.

Just before flying from Semarang to Batam, Ps. Indra Puspa shared Romans 11:36 with the volunteers, reminding them that our lives come from God, are by God, and are for God. Therefore, whatever we do, we want to do it solely for the glory of God and to impact the people around us. They also remembered to bring every aspect of this island mission journey into prayer and surrender it all to God.

Various activities were conducted during this island mission to the Riau Islands, ranging from free medical treatments and health checks, prayer walks, visiting homes to distribute health packages, serving Sunday schools and youth groups called the Generation of Inspiration Ministry, and also holding crusades. Despite challenges, by His grace, everything was successfully executed. The following are the locations visited by the IFGF Semarang volunteers:

  • IFGF Karimun Pulau Buru, Riau Islands
  • GPDI Immanuel Buru Island
  • Tanjung Batu Kecil Village
  • GPDI Immanuel Tanjung Batu Kecil
  • Kampung Tengah Village
  • Sungai Asam Village
  • GPDI Tanah Mujizat

To move from one place to another, these volunteers used two boats that were provided, named IFGF Benih 01 & IFGF Benih 02.

In one of the locations they visited, the volunteers took the time to pray together to bless and give thanks for the construction of one bathroom and toilet at GPDI Immanuel, supported by IFGF Semarang through GISI Foundation (Generasi Insan Sejahtera Indonesia). On the last day of service in the village of Sungai Asam, the team also had the opportunity to stay at GPDI Tanah Mujizat, which has three bathrooms, one of which was recently built and supported by IFGF Semarang through the GISI Foundation.

They are grateful for every experience encountered by the volunteers as it strengthens their faith through tangible evidence of God’s presence and love. They pray that every soul served will continue to experience growth in faith and know the true love of God, so that through their lives, the name of the Lord will be increasingly exalted. It’s not by our strength or might but only by His love.

Wait for us at the next Island Mission!! See you soon!
