Highlight Christmas 2020
Every December, churches around the world celebrate Christmas. However, Christmas in 2020 felt different as many of us had to celebrate Christmas via online medium. Some areas which were less affected by Covid-19 could hold an offline celebration although they needed to follow the required health protocols, as was done by IFGF Perth.
IFGF Perth, Australia held a Christmas Eve service on 24 December 2020 at 6 p.m. Ps. Erwin Ponto preached from Luke 1:28 and shared 3 main points in his Christmas message:
- Heaven come down to Earth
- You are chosen by God
- Favour required action on your side
On the other side of the globe, IFGF Seattle, USA celebrated Christmas online through their YouTube channel. Opened with a praise and worship session, the celebration continued with Christmas testimonies from church members. IFGF Kids Choir of IFGF Seattle participated in the celebration by performing “Silent Night”. The word of God was shared by Ps. Irwan Ngadisastra as IFGF Seattle’s senior pastor. Ps. Irwan reminded the audience that Christmas is not around us, but Christmas is in us. Ps. Irwan also shared the gospel that salvation is only found in Jesus as Acts 4:12 stated, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
Meanwhile in IFGF Los Angeles, USA who also celebrated Christmas through their YouTube Channel, a special nativity play was shown. This virtual nativity play called “Good News Goes Viral” was prepared by The Next Generation. Ps. Daniel Hanafi as IFGF Los Angeles’ senior pastor preached about blessings. The 3 main points from his teaching are;
- Blessing = Life, Growth and Increase (Genesis 1:22)
- Blessing = Dominion and Power (Genesis 1:28)
- Blessing = Protection and Propagation (Genesis 12:1)
Our Christmas celebrations had ended and now we have arrived in the new year. However let the message of hope, peace, love, blessings and salvation remain in us and let us share this message to the world around us.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
