Flood and Landside in Manado, Indonesia
In the first month of 2021, Manado, the capital city of North Sulawesi province in Indonesia experienced natural disasters which caused severe destruction. Flood and landslide affecting several areas in Manado. To assist those who are impacted by this disaster, IFGF Manado held an aid initiative on 30 January 2021.
The aid given was grocery as well as mattresses and came from IFGF Manado’s members and other donors. This diaconia ministry was done at 6 centres including IFGF Manado. Ps. Abraham & Ps. Martha Yuwono was also directly in charge of the aid given at church. The aid committees made sure that this ministry was done following the applicable health protocols.

As an act of solidarity, IFGF Palu also sent donations for the victims. Working together with a foundation in Manado, Ps. Dr. Agung Susilo (IFGF Palu Senior Pastor) delivered their donation via 14 hour road trip to Mamuju.
During disasters such as this, the church should act as a messenger of love. The church should be able to show Jesus’ love for others regardless of their ethnicity, race and religion just as God’s love is unconditional.
