EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION: IFGF JOGJA HOSTS GENDAY SERVICE
YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia – On March 29, IFGF Jogja held a special Sunday service titled GenDay (Generation Day). This event was not just an ordinary service; it was a tangible discipleship movement where the younger generation did not merely attend as participants but were fully trusted to actively take charge of the ministry. This movement aimed to create space, build courage, and instil the core value that every generation including children is called to serve God from an early age.

A Generation Taking the Lead
During the GenDay service, all strategic ministry roles were filled by children and teenagers. Children aged 5–12 took part in the choir team, serving the congregation with absolute sincerity and joy. Meanwhile, teenagers stepped up as Worship Leaders, guiding the church into God’s presence with hearts hungry for Him.

Beyond the stage, crucial behind-the-scenes roles were also entrusted to the youth. The multimedia team was operated by children, while the service documentation was handled by teenagers serving as photographers. Even at the entrance, children took on the roles of greeters and ushers, welcoming every attendee with genuine smiles and enthusiasm.

The Church as a “Safe Place“
One of the most touching moments of the service was a testimony shared by a TYC (Teens/Youth) member. He shared how the IFGF Jogja community has become a comfortable space for him—a safe place where he feels accepted, can share his struggles honestly, and experiences personal growth. This testimony served as a powerful reminder to the entire congregation of the importance of creating a safe environment for the younger generation to thrive.

Building a Foundation for the Future
Through this GenDay initiative, IFGF Jogja established five main objectives in building the next generation:
- Building Spiritual Identity: Helping children and teens realize that they are not just the “future” of the church, but a vital part of the church today.
- Cultivating a Servant’s Heart: Providing real opportunities to serve, moving beyond mere theory.
- Training Leadership & Character: Developing courage and responsibility so they can grow holistically.
- Creating Intergenerational Mentoring: Establishing a space where adults actively guide, equip, and walk alongside the younger generation.
- Instilling a Sense of Belonging: Fostering a deep love for the church as their spiritual home from a young age.

This remarkable service concluded with a meaningful moment of impartation. The entire congregation stood together to lay hands on and pray for all the KIDS and TYC members. This prayer served as a symbol of support and commissioning—that this generation is blessed, equipped, and called to be a light to the world.

We believe that when the younger generation is entrusted with responsibility, they are not only capable of serving but will become impactful instruments of God. GenDay is living proof that God works through anyone, unrestricted by age.
