Helping Afghan Refugees

Helping Afghan Refugees

No one would have thought that on August 15, 2021, Taliban would seize Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan. Looking back at history, this situation happened after the Taliban was overthrown by the US 20 years ago. As the Taliban captured Kabul, panic entailed throughout the city. From the news we saw chaos happened in the airport as families including children and elderly tried to run away from the country. They walked along the 2 km runway and risked themselves. Many others, though, chose to wait around the airport. Around 10.000 people were trying to escape from Kabul.

What happened in Afghanistan has caused many victims. World Harvest, as a humanitarian organization, decided to assist Afghan refugees by sending food and medicines. And the good news is, some of the refugees have decided to accept Jesus as their only Lord and Saviour. We believe that their repentance happened through God’s mercy and not our strength.

Other than food and medicine, the refugees are in need of shelter to sleep. For this, the World Harvest team has rented houses in Chaman, a Pakistani city located on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. The team has a target to provide shelter for at least 1.000 Afghan refugees. This shelter is important as the temperature will drop in the next months as winter comes. The cost for this temporary shelter is around US$80 per family.

Together we can help the Afghan refugees through the donations who have sent via World Harvest. Thank you for your support and willingness to give. We know that this is only the beginning and greater things will happen in the future. May God bless us all!

Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.
