Caring for others

Caring for others

In the midst of pandemic and the hardship that entails, World Harvest is still committing to help others beyond the church wall. Through the ministry in the education sector, the church is able to prepare human resources who are equipped with knowledge, leadership skill and godly characters who will be impactful leaders of the future.

From January to February 2021, 1.106 children received education grants to support their education fee. World Harvest also distributed around 900 groceries packages to their foster children and their families to ensure that their nutritional needs are fulfilled. Furthermore, 241 children received Character Building, Leadership and Development of Skill coaching which aims to build their characters. A free health check up, vitamins and medication was also given to 92 foster children and the family members.

Through their Microfinance program, venture capital was distributed to 14 families within the World Harvest community. This program provides families with the first step to transform from a zero income family to an earning family.

One of the foster children of World Harvest, Elisabeth Tambunan, feels grateful for the Sponsor a Child program. She was able to graduate from a vocational high school in 2020. The grants given have supported her study as her father passed away in 2017. Elisabeth has started working in Restaurant Kazuhiro at Supermall Karawaci, Indonesia since 18 February 2021.

Another story comes from Yunita who received a grant for her monthly school fee. At one point, financial hardship hindered her from going to school as her father passed away in her 3rd grade and her mother passed away in her 11th grade. However Yunita has graduated from vocational high school and is now working in a beverage stall at the airport.

By God’s grace and mercy, World Harvest is able to assist many children and their families through the generosity of the donors. We pray that many more people are blessed and able to live their dream through World Harvest.

Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker,  but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.

– Proverb 14:31 –
