World Conference X

On August 5, 2021, IFGF held World Conference X. World Conference is the highest meeting within IFGF Synode which happens every 4 years. This year the World Conference X was held online, due to Covid-19 pandemic that is yet to end.

Started at 9 a.m. WIB, this year’s world conference produced several important decisions. One of them was the approval of the 2021 Constitutions & Bylaws. The second segment of the world conference, started at 12.45 WIB was opened to the public. Ps. Andre Tjhin & Ps. Yohanes Kusika from IFGF Bandung led this segment. Ps. Budi Hidajat from IFGF Semarang led the opening prayer and acted as the panel chairman of IFGF World Conference X.

Ps. Budi announced the appointment of apostolic team for the 2021-2025 period. At a preliminary meeting on August 3, it was agreed that 2 members of the apostolic team, Ps. Handoyo Gunawan and Ps. Agus Susanto, have finished their term. A new member, Ps. Joshua Artono, was added to the apostolic team.

The conference continued with the announcement and appointment of the new president of IFGF Global. On July 27, the Panel Chairman wrote a letter to Ps. Jimmy Oentoro as IFGF Founder, asking for a recommendation for the new IFGF president for 2021-2025. Then on July 28, Ps. Jimmy replied with a recommendation for Ps. Sam Hartanto as the new president. The letter was sent to the apostolic team, seeking for approval of this recommendation. Then on August 3, a letter was sent to Ps. Sam Hartanto asking for his willingness to accept the presidential position. Ps. Sam then replied with an acceptance letter to be the president for 2021-2025. 

Ps. Sam Hartanto’s wife, Paulina Naftali Sarendatu, is currently serving in IFGF Kids Bandung. Together they have 3 children, Petra Destiny Hartanto, Nathanael Judah Hartanto dan Benaiah Joel Perez Hartanto. His educational background is as follow:

• 1996 BA in Marketing from Seattle U
• 1998 MBA in Marketing and MSc in Information System from City University
• 2008 MA in Leadership from HITS
• 2019 Doctoral in Ministry from HITS

Ps. Sam Hartanto started his ministry in 1994 at IFGF Seattle. He then moved to Indonesia and became the Senior Pastor of IFGF Bandung in 2010. He headed the GOL (Youth) of IFGF Synode for 2006-2009. He was the Chairman of DPW Oceania for 2 periods in 2009-2017 and officially became a member of the apostolic team in 2013. From 2017-2021, Ps. Sam was the General Secretary of IFGF.

During the World Conference X Ps. Sam Hartanto shared a message titled “ALIVE”, taken from Acts 1:3, which is also the theme of the conference. It is good to be ALIVE, regardless of the pandemic. Being alive is a blessing from God. ‘I’M ALIVE’ is a prophetic message that will be said in the next 4 years. We truly understand that God must have a plan for us as He keeps us ALIVE during this difficult time. This theme extended into 4 more specific themes; Clarity (2022), Character (2023), Calling (2024) dan Culture (2025).

Ps. Sam Hartanto also announced the ministers who will serve together for the next 4 years.

As a closing remark, Ps. Sam Hartanto read Psalm 91 from New King James for the attendees. The event continued on with appointment of the apostolic team members, new RLCs and ELCs led by Ps. Jimmy Oentoro. Ps. Daniel Hanafi, Ps. Edmun Chen and Ps. Marc Estes also prayed for the new leaders of IFGF for the 2021-2025 period.

May all the leaders walk humbly in the grace and wisdom from God.

After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
