Wells Project in Belat Island, Indonesia

Wells Project in Belat Island, Indonesia

Belat Island is one of the islands in Riau Islands, Indonesia where the source of water is scarce. Looking at this condition, IFGF established a project to build wells for the residents of Belat Island. The project was pioneered and funded by Associate Pastor Lidyawati Susantio of IFGF Toronto.

2 wells were built during this project. Each well is projected to help 30-40 families living on the island. Ps. Franklyn Palempung from IFGF Balai Karimun acts as the field manager for this project. He explained that 2 types of water transportation are required to reach Belat Island. For the first leg, we have to travel via a speedboat and continue on the second leg by a regular fishing boat.

This project costs around $5000 to cover the building and set up of 2 wells, 2 water pumps and water storage tanks. At this stage, the project is 95% completed, with water running and ready for use.

May this project bring joy to the residents of Belat Island and may they be able to see Jesus’ love through it.
