Updates from IFGF Pekanbaru
Water Baptism was held at IFGF Pekanbaru during August and September. On Saturday, August 13, Ps. Yofinter as the senior pastor of IFGF Pekanbaru led the water baptism and assisted by the satellite pastors, Ps. Lukas Sukendi and Ps. Jesvin Rajagukguk. 11 people gave themselves to be baptized as they finished the I’m Saved class and the teaching on baptism. Later in September, on the 25th there were 14 people who were baptized. This baptism was held in Langgam, Pelalawan District and was also led by Ps. Yofinter and assisted by Ps. Lukas Sukendi (pastor of Palas satellite).
Also happening on September 25, was the NEXTGEN INVASION. NEXTGEN INVASION is a special Super Sunday service that is held monthly in which the volunteers for this special service are the nextgen. They come from kids, teens, youth and college ministries. Just as the theme in September, As For Me and My House, this month’s Nextgen Invasion put a focus on preparing the nextgen to build the right family in the future. This is like how Joshua who prepared himself to lead ever since his youth.
The special Super Sunday started with a percussion performance from Kids X TYC, followed with a praise song from Kids ministry and a short drama from TYC. The service was then closed with a family prayer, where parents were given a chance to pray for their children’s future and to recommit their husband-wife relationships as to be the first place for their children to learn about Jesus, and a safe place for the children to grow.
On the same day, IFGF TYC Pekanbaru also held a Mission Trip. IFGF Pekanbaru has a monthly mission trip for the pastors and workers of the church, but this time, TYC Pekanbaru also participated in the event. This mission trip was held in Sector 4, Langgam, Pelalawan District which is located 3.5 hours from Pekanbaru City center. The focus on this mission trip was evangelism, discipleship and pastoral for the estate workers. Most adults and children in the area are illiterate and therefore, the Sunday school teachers opened a reading class for them.
During this mission trip, IFGF Pekanbaru gave IFGF TYC Pekanbaru full trust and support to ministered both in the Super Sunday service and Sunday school service. This cross generational team work was very impactful as it blessed the people who were ministered. We hope IFGF Pekanbaru will stay on fire to bring impact for the community and at the end, may God’s name be glorified.
