SMALL IS BIGGER THAN YOU THINK

Sometimes, the small unnoticed actions lead to the big, significant transformations that everyone wants and desires. We often overlook the power of small steps. We live in a world that celebrates the big, the spectacular, and the instant. As men, we are frequently tempted to think that our lives are not worth much if we cannot accomplish something big. However, that is far from the truth! The Bible shows us that God’s work is often done not through grand gestures, but through small, faithful steps.

Abraham took the small step of obedience by leaving his homeland, not knowing where he was going, but trusting in God’s promise. As a young shepherd, David faithfully tended to his father’s sheep long before he defeated Goliath. The small boy, who had only five small loaves of bread and two small fish, gave them to Jesus to feed five thousand people. Those small steps, guided by obedience and faith, led to significant outcomes in God’s plan.

OUR OBEDIENCE

To God, obedience in the small things matters significantly.

Every act of obedience, no matter how small, has the potential to make an eternal impact. Jesus taught this truth when He told the Parable of the Mustard Seed, where a small action—sowing a small seed—led to the growth of a large tree (Mark 4:31-32).

Similarly, our obedience in doing the “small” things—like our personal devotional time with the Lord, reading the Bible daily, praying for someone in need, showing simple kindness to a neighbor, or sharing the gospel with a friend—can have far-reaching consequences in our family and God’s kingdom. As we embrace our role in God’s unfolding plan, we can take comfort in knowing that our efforts, no matter how seemingly insignificant, are valued and cherished by our Heavenly Father.

BE FAITHFUL

“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much,
and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.”
(Luke 16:10 ESV)

Our faithfulness in doing the small things that nobody sees, in the little stuff behind the scenes, and in the unseen, unspectacular choices of life where we do the right thing even though nobody’s ever going to see it, matters!

A tiny deed of kindness has the power to make someone’s day and even their life. A small word of encouragement can give someone the strength to keep going. We need to trust that God is at work in the small, seemingly insignificant areas of our lives and that He is using our small steps and actions of faith to accomplish His great purposes.

We need to open ourselves up to God’s strength and power working through us. It is in our smallness that God’s greatness shines most brightly. Instead of striving to be seen and celebrated by the world, we are called to trust in God’s provision and purpose for our lives, knowing that He uses even the smallest things in our lives for His glory.

The result of our obedience and faithfulness in the small things might not be felt or seen immediately. It might take time, just like growing a tree which requires time. But at the appointed moment, if we are faithful, God will bring forth the growth and result.

“If you do enough small things right, big things can happen.”
– John Wooden –

So, allow God to use and grow the small things in our lives for His significance!
