IFGF Kotaraja New Temporary Building Inauguration
On Monday, December 5, IFGF Kotaraja under the pastoring of Ps. Catto Yermia Mauri, S.Th held an inauguration of their new temporary building. This building is located behind Bhayangkara Hospital in Abepura District of Jayapura City, Indonesia. The inauguration coincided with the Christmas celebration of IFGF Kotaraja as well as the inauguration of the church’s retaining wall.
Around 200 invitees attended the event, including 3 government officials:
- Mayor of Jayapura (inaugurating the church’s retaining wall which is 25x100m2)
- Commander of Military Resort 172/PWY, Brigadier General Mr. Izak Pangemanan (inaugurating the church)
- Regent of Mamteng Regency, the elder of IFGF Kotaraja
Also in attendance were Regent of Central Mamberamo Regency, Mr. Ricky Ham Pagawak, S.H., M. Si., the Chairman of Papuan Churches, Pdt. MPA Mauri, S.Th., and the Director of Papuan Human Rights, Mr. Matius Murib.
Prior to this event, IFGF Kotaraja worshiped in the old church building which was on a self-support property belonging to IFGF Kotaraja Abepura. The church was 6×12 m2 in size with wooden walls and equipped with 2 fans, a TV and a standard sound system. IFGF Kotaraja had worshiped in this building for 5 years before moving to the new temporary building.
The new church building is available through the assistance from Military Resort 172/PWY which was built with a shelter system, a mix of PVC and light steel. The building took approximately 1.5 months to be built. The construction was headed by 1 foreman from Military Resort and built by 8 youths of IFGF Kotaraja Abepura. This new building has a tile floor and is equipped with ACs, a 50” TV and a better sound system, which are gifts from new members of IFGF Kotaraja.
Currently there are 75 members in IFGF Kotaraja:
- Kids: 25 people
- Teens: 5 people
- Youth: 20 people
- Adults: 25 people
The inauguration ceremony started with the inscription signing by Commander of Military Resort 172/PWY and the signing off for the church’s retaining wall by the Mayor of Jayapura, Dr. Drs. Benhur Tomu Mano, MM. The ceremony continued with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Commander of Military Resort 172/PWY. A Thanksgiving and Christmas Celebration Service with IFGF Kotaraja members followed the ceremony.
