BACK TO BASIC: UNITING VISION AND BUILDING CITIES AT THE EAST INDONESIA REGIONAL CONFERENCE

BALI – This marks the convening of the East Indonesia Regional Conference on May 1–2, 2026. Carrying the theme “BACK TO BASIC,” this conference was held at IFGF Kuta Bali, with Pastor Yohanes Kusika and Pastor Vaico Mamola acting as warm hosts.

This strategic gathering aimed to reunite IFGF churches scattered across the regions of Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara. Through this conference, all of God’s servants were invited to align more closely with the vision and mission of IFGF’s DNA: People is our mission, connect with God, and make disciples. It is a calling to return to the fundamental purpose of the church and to build the right foundation in ministry.

A Challenge to Build Cities and Keep the Faith Throughout the two-day conference, participants were blessed with the following messages:

Building More Than Just a Church:

Region X Director, Ps. Yo Kusika, presented an inspiring challenge to all churches in Eastern Indonesia. He emphasized that the church should not only focus on building buildings or congregations internally, but must also step up to build the city to create a better and more impactful Eastern Indonesia.

Obedience Amidst Challenges:

VP Pastor Jonathan Kasmin was present to strengthen the pastors and leaders. He urged every leader to maintain steadfast faith, focus on God’s calling, and walk in full obedience like the prophet Elijah, who remained faithful even when faced with various challenges.

Equipping True Worshippers and the Next Generation Aside from leadership, this conference also highlighted two important pillars of the church: worship and the next generation.

Pastor Joshua Artono (Global Praise Pastor of IFGF) shared the essence of worship, reminding the congregation that worship is not about a glamorous stage or a performance, but about a heart attitude that truly worships God.

Pastor Michelle Efferin (Next Gen Pastor of IFGF Bandung) strongly emphasized the urgency of discipling the younger generation. She invited leaders to provide space and opportunities for young people to serve from an early age, so that this generation can be won and ultimately win more souls for Christ.

Relevant in the Digital Era: Practical Training Recognizing the importance of technological adaptation in evangelism, this conference did not merely consist of sermon sessions but also equipped participants with practical skills. The leaders attended three workshops specifically prepared to answer the ministry needs in Eastern Indonesia, namely:

  • Creative design using Canva.
  • Effective church social media management.
  • Simple broadcasting to support online evangelism.

Commitment that Overcomes Distance Enthusiasm for God’s presence was evident from the attendance of approximately 50 participants representing almost the entire Eastern Indonesia region. Their presence serves as evidence of extraordinary commitment and passion for ministry, considering they had to travel long distances and face currently high flight ticket prices to gather in Bali.

The conference concluded with a renewed spirit of unity. IFGF Eastern Indonesia is now moving forward not by its own strength, but with a recalibrated foundation: Back to Basic!
