Tidal Wave in Sorong, West Papua
On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, a tidal wave hit Sorong, West Papua. This incident destroyed 17 houses and left hundreds of people homeless. Based on the data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency, at least 194 people from 25 families from Klaligi, Manoi District had to evacuate to emergency tents. Responding to this, IFGF Sorong sent aid to these natural disaster victims.
In the first batch, one of IFGF Sorong’s caregroup sent lunch boxes for the victims. Then later in March, IFGF Sorong together with World Harvest sent some aid to the area. This aid includes lunch boxes, infant formula, milk, toiletries and toys. A total of 100 lunch boxes were given that day.
To care and share for others is one of God’s commands for His followers. Thus, it is our calling to help others who are in need. We wish for a quick recovery for the victims of the tidal wave in Sorong. Let us pray for their wellbeing, and also for IFGF Sorong and World Harvest so they can continue to be a blessing for those who need it.
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,

when it is in your power to act.”
